The Great War is an abridged and heavily illustrated version of The World Crisis, which was originally issued as 26 fortnightly parts. Most sets were later bound in case bindings which were available from the publishers. The most popular was this one of smooth royal blue cloth with elaborate gilt and blind stamping featuring an exploding globe motif on the spines.
This is a very attractive set: bright blue boards with bright gilt titles.
