With Inscriptions and Handwritten Signature of Winston Churchill
Here’s 2 identically bound books in red morocco by Bumpus Ltd. My Early Life, A Roving Commission and Great Contemporaries. Churchill inscribed both books before giving them to Roger Frewen as a wedding gift in 1952. (Roger Frewen was Churchill’s godson and the son of Churchill’s first cousin, Hugh Frewen.)
Both Books:
Full red morocco by Bumpus Ltd of Oxford Street
Odhams Press Limited – 1948 second printing
Roger Moreton Frewen’s bookplate on front paste-down
All edges gilt
Small books ~8.25″ x 5.25″
Condition: Very Good. Spines slightly discolored, 1/2″ strip faded at top of front binding of My Early Life.
Churchill’s inscription on the otherwise blank second front free endpaper is the same in both books:
