Here’s the book Edouard Manet from Winston Churchill’s library given to him by Lady Ava Anderson in 1960.

November 30th 1960″

Ava (1897-1975) was the widow of Ralph Wigram who gave Churchill data on Nazi armaments and reportedly committed suicide on Dec. 31 1936. In 1941 Ava married John Anderson, Viscount Waverly, Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer and so became Lady Ava Anderson.

Laid-in is a copy of a letter WSC sent to his wife, Clementine Jan 2nd, 1937, referring to Ralph Wigram’s death and funeral arrangements.

Winston Churchill’s and Randolph Churchill’s book plates are on the front pastedown.

Spine and boards are foxed and discolored, book is slightly cocked.
