Pictorial cloth boards with crossed Union Flag and White Ensign on the front cover and a red fleur-de-lis on the spine instead of the two flags.
Far scarcer than English or American firsts.
This is the first of the two books Churchill wrote based on his newspaper despatches he sent from the front in South Africa. Ian Hamilton’s March (Churchill’s 5th published book) is the second book.
Maps and plans are intact, including the folding maps, which remain properly folded.
Apart from previous owner’s bookplate and signature (shown in pics) this book is clean & unmarked throughout – no foxing.
