Sir Robert Menzies K.T., C.H., Q.C., M.P. delivered the eulogy from the crypt of St. Paul’s at the State funeral of Sir Winston Churchill on Jan 30, 1965
Limited Edition of 500 copies.
Nos. 1–250 were distributed as gifts by the author (Robert Menzies)
Nos. 251–500 distributed by the publisher, Cassel & Co. Ltd., London and Cassel Australia Ltd.

This copy is numbered 380 and assigned to Gp Capt. Douglas Bader.
Signed and dated by Douglas Bader 31/1/65.

The book is in maroon buckram with a black inlaid label also in buckram on the front board and in gilt WSC by RGM. It is preserved in a three quarter dark blue morocco clamshell book-like box with contrasting red leather title label to spine and with marbled paper board.

Douglas Bader was one of the great fighter aces of WWII. In December 1931 Bader crashed in a Bristol Bulldog losing both his legs in the accident. He was invalided out of the RAF in May 1933 and joined the Shell Company. In November 1939 he rejoined the RAF; his promotion and success were rapid – from Flying Officer in March 1940 to Wing Commander in March 1941. Bader’s official score was 22 1/2 German aircraft destroyed. In August 1941 he was brought down over France and became a prisoner of war until his release by the U.S. First Army on 15 April 1945.
