The photographs, drawings and cartoon portraits in this volume were collected by Martin Gilbert over several years, and portray the broad range of Winston Churchill’s life. More than a third of the photographs and most of the cartoons came from Sir Winston’s own albums, appearing nowhere else. They are supported by a rich historical commentary, often in Churchill’s own words or those of his contemporaries.
The result is a unique photographic record, remarkable for its completeness and many interesting pictures it contains.
