Sterling silver cigarette box comes from the limited edition of 100 sets designed by John Churchill and Alex Styles for Garrard and Company, Ltd., of London, in 1974, to commemorate the Centennial of the birth of Winston Churchill on November 30, 1874.

The nine silverware items by Garrard, to mark Churchill’s Centenary are:

• silver claret jug with 6 goblets
• silver punchbowl with ladle & 8 cups
• a pair 10″ salvers
• cigar humidor
• cigarette box (featured here)
• a pair of coasters
• bon-bon dish
• silver letter opener / paper knife with a Churchill medallion in the handle
• small silver statue (3.5″ high)

This sterling silver cigarette box listed here is No.16 from the limited edition of 100.
It measures approx: 4-5/16″ (11 cm) high. 3″ (7.5cm) diameter.
Weight approx: 382 grams (12.28 troy ounces).

The Cigarette box lid features a medallic portrait of Churchill and the Churchill Coat of Arms on the underside of the lid.

I’ve seen this item referred to as the Cigar Humidor – another item in this set. I believe the item featured here is the Cigarette Box: the Cigar Humidor would be considerably taller.

Condition is fine with no dents or scratches.
