The young Winston S. Churchill served as a war correspondent under Major-General Sir Bindon Blood (1842-1940) on India’s Afghanistan-bordering Northwest Frontier in the Malakand Field Force and used this experience in his first book “The Malakand Field Force”.

There are 45 signature (in pencil) on both front endpapers (probably members of the regiment).
Loosely laid in are some newspaper cuttings, including a portrait of Bindon Blood written underneath is “General Sir Bindon Blood reading congratulatory telegrams at his home on his ninetieth birthday anniversary yesterday” the newspaper cutting is dated Tuesday, November 8, 1932).
The “Old Comrades Association” was formed with General Sir Bindon Blood, G.C.B., Honorary Colonel of the Battalion, as first President.
Bindon Blood was very proud to be the direct descendent of the notorious Colonel Blood, who in the reign of King Charles II had attempted to steal by armed force the Crown jewels from the Tower of London. General Blood also served during the Anglo Boer War, 1901.
Very slight spotting to prelims else strong sturdy book in excellent condition.
