Churchill: The Making of the Man. The Early Years + 8 Medals

Sir Winston Churchill – “The Making of the Man, The Early Years”

This is a fine set of eight sterling silver medallions, The Vermeil Edition, (gilt on silver) minted in the United Kingdom by the Royal Mint in 1974.

These medallions were distributed by American Express together with a softcover book in an impressive red faux leather case. Martin Gilbert (Churchill’s official biographer) is the author of the 22p book – a monograph of Churchill’s Early years covering the years 1874-1901, hence the title The Early Years.

Each medallion measures approx. 1-3/4″ (45mm) in diameter & weighs approx. 47 grams and is housed in a clear plastic case with a felt cover protecting the case.

Total weight of the 8 medals is 368 grams (approx. 12 Troy Oz).

With original registration certificate from the original purchase in 1975.

The medals are the superior Vermeil Edition and are in excellent condition, as is the book.
