First English editions bound by the publisher (Cassell, London) in full black pebble grain Morocco.

There are many editions of The Second World War by Winston Churchill; the American edition (Houghton Mifflin, Boston, 1948-53) is the true first edition.

This is a near fine set with bright gilt tooling, and contents appear unread.

These special limited editions are seldom seen on the secondary market these days. In the meantime, I recommend new collectors seeking detailed bibliographical information on works by Churchill to get hold of a copy of Woods, Langworth or Cohen – preferably all three.
