The Second World War Signed – Winston Churchill
A fine set of THE SECOND WORLD WAR (6 vols) all signed by the author Winston Churchill on the title page.
Published by the Educational Book Company. 6 volumes, London. 1st edition 1954.
Signed by Churchill in all six volumes.
Bound in the publisher’s red buckram, with a vignette of Churchill’s head embossed in dark brown to the front board with gilt lines, the spines having gilt titles on brown leather labels with the gilding rather rubbed and chipped. Gutter breaks to all volumes except volume 5 which is not uncommon with this set. The red endpapers are all original and in very good un-split and not inscribed condition. The text, maps, charts and photographic illustrations are in similar unmarked condition.
This set of six volumes known as the Chartwell edition is a deluxe version of the “Cassell” edition that was published at the same time, however the quality of the binding and the paper are far superior.
This set is rare in that all six volumes have been signed by Winston Churchill on the title pages.
