Simon Ward was 30 when he was chosen to play the role of Winston Churchill in the Carl Foreman – Richard Attenborough film “Young Winston”. Ward portrayed Winston Churchill from age of 19-27. He was was one of 400 young British actors to auditioned for the part.

Other actors include Robert Shaw (as Lord Randolph Churchill), Anne Bancroft (as Lady Jennie Churchill), Jack Hawkins, Ian Holm, Anthony Hopkins, Patrick Magee, Edward Woodward and John Mills.
