Large Three-Handled Cup Elaborately Decorated, (also known as a Tyg) Commemorating The Boer War

Earthenware made by Spode Copeland, and retailed by T Goode and Company, 1900.

Three-handle, three sides:
One side features the profile bust of Queen Victoria, around which is inscribed VICTORIA QUEEN AND EMPRESS, COMFORTER OF THE AFFLICTED. On either side of the Queen are flags & seals including the Union Jack. Along the bottom rim is the motto: EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL.

Another side is decorated with the portraits of the Commander in Chief, Field Marshall Lord Roberts, and the Prime Minister, The Marquis of Salisbury.

The third side features a full length figure of Britannia being welcomed by a kneeling South African farmer and the inscription BRITANNIA TOWER OF JUSTICE, DEFENDER OF THE OPPRESSED.

A border of ribbons with names decorates the interior just below the gold rim.
