Produced in 6 volumes rather than the 4 volumes of the British first edition.
Scribners split the first two volumes into two books each making a total of six books.The setting, illustrations, and maps are identical to the English four volume work. Bound in emerald green cloth, with gilt titles on spines.
This set is complete as issued with the original dust jackets and slip cases. Volume 6 is in blue and gold dust-jacket which is how all the later sets were issued with this jacket design.
It’s unusual to find sets in the original jackets and slip cases per this set.
