Here is a unique 5” x 6” postal sheet honoring the May 13, 1965 Postal First Day of issue of the U.S. Five cent stamp of Winston Churchill.
Signed by President Dwight D. “Ike” Eisenhower, WWII General (Supreme Allied Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe) and later President of the USA (died in 1969) – signed “with best wishes, Dwight D. Eisenhower” below the stamp.
Churchill’s facsimile signature is shown at the bottom of the sheet.
In 1949 Eisenhower became the first Supreme commander of NATO. As a Republican he was elected the 34th President of the United States (1953-1961). While President he ended the Korean War, kept up the pressure on the Soviet Union during the Cold War, re-oriented the defense budget toward nuclear weapons, launched the space race, enlarged the Social Security program and began building the interstate highway system.
