Churchill visited Iceland (the first P.M. to do so) on his way back to the UK after his historic meeting with Roosevelt in Newfoundland having signed the Atlantic Charter 2 days earlier.

Iceland’s visit by Winston Churchill was an historic day since it was the first occasion during WWII of a joint parade of US and British armed forces. “Most importantly for us in Iceland, however, it was the day the British showed up to occupy our island.” according the Magnús Erlendsson’s article published by the International Churchill Society, Finest Hour 173, Summer 2016 entitled Reykjavik Rendezvous: The Day I Saw Churchill

A facebook follower (from the UK) recently sent me photos identical to the ones in this booklet; they have been handed down by a family member, who served in WWII.
They are very small – 2.5″ x 2.5″ and I just happen to have an album with the exact same photos. Handwritten on the backs of the UK photos are captions such as “P.M at the March Past just outside Reykjavik“. Obviously these photos are not unique, but I’m interested to know how the troops got them: were they handed out /sent out later on? Purchased?
