Large Mezzotint Portrait of Winston Churchill by H. Macbeth Raeburn
A trial proof, showing him full length, in overcoat, cigar and cane in one hand, hat and gloves in the other.
650 mm x 410 mm., C.1940
Henry Macbeth Raeburn (1860 – 1947) was a well know artist and engraver.
This print was purchased from the artist’s widow and has been in my collection for over 25 years. Only a few proof copies are known. An intended edition was never actually published. (UPDATE: There has since been a limited edition of 250 copies commissioned by Peter Harrington in 2000.)
A very imposing image, in a nice frame protected by UV glass.
