Winston Churchill Memorial Statue Appeal

Large heavy book lists all who donated to the Winston Churchill Memorial Statue Appeal launched in 1970 by the Rt. Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Westminster.

“This Book of Memory contains the names of 4,410 contributors who subscribed £32,104.”

Queen Elizabeth II headed the list of contributors together with Prince Philip, The Queen Mother, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Baroness Spencer-Churchill.

Mr S. Bray donated the paper and the binding.
Bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe free of charge – in green buckram with a leather label on the upper cover featuring Churchill’s coat of arms in gilt.
Mr W. A. Brake inscribed the book.

“On 1st November 1973, the Statue was unveiled in the north-east corner of Parliamentary Square in London in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.”

The volume contains one loose leaf – To  W.S.C. by Viscount Norwich. A poem dedicated to Winston Churchill.
Sotheran’s small bookplate on inside front cover.
