Silver & Gilt Cigar Box – Winston Churchill Centenary

A rare and beautifully crafted silver and gilt cigar box by the Australian-born silversmith Stuart Devlin, produced to commemorate the centenary of Sir Winston Churchill’s birth (1874–1974). Commissioned by The Heritage Collection, this is Edition No. 27 of a strictly limited release of just 50 pieces, with only 30 designated for the UK market.

This impressive box is richly adorned with gilt friezes on three sides, each depicting scenes from Churchill’s extraordinary life and legacy. The fourth side features one of his most famous quotes finely engraved, from his speech to The House of Commons on June 4th 1940:

“We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and the streets, we shall fights in the hills; we shall never surrender”

Crafted in Devlin’s City of London workshop, only three pieces per week were produced so many were not completed till 1975. This cigar box is a significant collector’s item honoring one of Britain’s greatest statesmen, rendered by one of the 20th century’s most innovative silversmiths.

The heavy lid is polished silver and the box is lined with rosewood with leather under the base. A custom-made black leather covered presentation case protects this impressive piece of Churchilliana.
