Wilderness Trails in Three Continents – An Account of Travel, Big Game Hunting and Exploration in India, Burma, China, East Africa and Labrador By Lionel A.D. Leslie. Forward by The Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill. Illustrated. Heath Cranton Limited, 6 Fleet Lane, London E.C.4 1931

This book, in clam-shell box, features original typed forward by Winston Churchill

This is a vg+ copy with the original dust jacket which is quite scarce but what makes this really special is that it comes with the original typed forward signed “Winston Churchill” for his cousin Lionel Leslie’s book.  One page 4to, 24th April 1931, together with a typed letter signed (“Yours affectly W.”) to Lionel asking him to “Send me the book along if possible when it is in proof and I will see what I can do”, one page 4to, Chartwell 21st Jan. 1931.

The book is preserved in a three quarter green calf clamshell book-like box with raised bands, contrasting red leather title label and green cloth sides. The forward and letter are preserved in a green cloth hard bound chemise with title label on front and the contained in a clamshell book-like box matching the one that contains the book. Both housed in a green cloth-covered slip case.

This is as good as it gets for a collector.
