Rear Admiral Anson’s Visitor Book with Churchill’s Signature – Signed by Winston Churchill

Here’s a Visitor’s Book belonging to Admiral Charles Eustace Anson while Admiral-Superintendent of Chatham Dockyard, 1912-1915, on 95 sides of a 4to. red morocco volume, with over 1000 signatures including many distinguished naval officers and admirals.

The entry on 8th April 1913 comprises a group of 8 names written in Churchill’s hand as follows: “The Rt Hon Winston S. Churchill MP, Admiral H.S.H. Prince Louis of Battenburg, Captain Greene, Rear Admiral de Chair, Mr A. F. Whyte MP, Mr J. E. Masterton Smith”, bracketed together with the address “HMS Enchantress”, the visit being while Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty.
