2 Gold Medals in presentation case with COA.
Set number 142 of 150.

Designed and sculpted by Michael Rizzello, United Kingdom. Each medal is individually hallmarked and numbered. They measure 32 mm diameter and weigh 1 troy oz. each. The medals come in sets of two: one medal depicting Churchill and the other medal depicting Franklin D. Roosevelt. The reverse of the medals depicts the battleship HMS Prince of Wales in Placentia Bay.

British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (fdr) met in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland on 9th August, 1941. (Hence the date on the medals.) The resulting agreement (codenamed Riviera) between the United Stated and Great Britain named The Atlantic Charter, was signed on August 14, 1941. This document did much to shape the course of the war and the post war period.
