CHURCHILL PARAGON TANKARDS – Blue & Green: Churchilliana

Posted on Sep 11, 2012

Here are 2 Churchill Paragon Tankards from around 1940; one in pale blue, the other in pale green.
I haven’t seen too many of these on the secondary market.

Bas-relief portrait of Churchill with relief heraldic lion on the reverse side, with a surrounding design of oak leaves and acorns. Both  tankards are beautifully gilded with bands around the rim, the base and on the handle. They measure 5″ tall and are in Fine condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.

On page 140 of Douglas Hall’s book on Churchilliana a cream version of this tankard is shown which could be a proof as it states pottery and date unknown, but this is almost certainly Paragon.

Estimated value for the pair $1,500
